Ever had that feeling of excitement and butterflies in your stomach when you start school?

I've been getting this since 1st grade. Well today I began my first day in the nursing program! I am taking Patho physiology two times a week which total up to 5 hours.

So I took notes copiously while my hand wasn't working with me. I've been out of school for 2 weeks now and it seems that my hand muscles have gone on vacation. The class isn't that hard -- yet. Past students have lamented in nursing forums that patho is a killer.

Anyway, I decided to take it during the summer session to get it over with. And by having just this class I can totally give it my full attention it craves for! Plus it will lighten the class load for this fall semester.

Our professor also assigned us group projects. "You get to choose what groups you want to be in. There will be 3 groups. I am going to pass these 3 sheets around. Each group is to have 4-6 members."

Most of us didn't know each other. We just stared. And we signed what ever paper came our way unless it was already signed to the limit.

It turns out that our professor assigned the group leaders. I wondered what the basis of this was. Usually from experience in a sociological point of view, group members assign a leader. Or later on, he or she will be recognized amongst the group as the ONE.

As our professor got to our group paper she scanned the list of names. Somewhere in the back of my mind I could hear my name being called already. And I kind of despise being the leader. Yes, it's awesome to see that after the project is done and everyone in your group including yourself gets the high mark and praise the whole thing is just exhausting.

"David, you will be the leader of the group." I was kinda phased out but I suddenly got into attention.

Anyway, to make the long story short I will take this role as a challenge. It's my first step in being a strong nurse. It will be a good way to also use the skills I've learned from the book "The 7 Habits of Highly of Effective People" to use.

And as Santino mockingly says, "Make it wooorkk..."
